Battleground (2015) is an upcoming professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by WWE. It will take place on July 19, 2015 at Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri. It will be the third event under the Battleground chronology.
Battleground will feature professional wrestling matches that involved wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds, plots, and storylines that play out on WWE's primary television programs, Raw and SmackDown. Wrestlers will portray heroes or villains as they follow a series of events that build tension and culminate in a wrestling match or series of matches.
On the May 21 episode of SmackDown, Bray Wyatt was defeated by Dean Ambrose after Roman Reigns interfered in the match. On the June 1st episode of Raw, Reigns defeated Wyatt to retain his spot in the Money in the Bank ladder match. At Money in the Bank, during the Money in the Bank ladder match, Wyatt attacked Reigns. Later in the event, it was announced that Reigns would face Wyatt at Battleground. The following night on Raw James Harrison announced that Alexa Bliss who in her debut match on the main roster beat Paige in a non-title match would face the reigning WWE Divas Champion at Battleground. He also revealed that Charlotte and Sasha Banks of The Four Horsewomen would defend their tag team title against Cameron and Alicia Fox. As Harrison was about to announce Dean Ambrose's opponent at Battleground for his WWE World Heavyweight Championship Seth Rollins interrupted demanding a rematch before Brock Lesnar, who was planned as Ambrose's opponent returned from suspension, Harrison then decided that Ambrose would defend it in a triple threat match against Rollins and Lesnar.
